Wire Harness Inspector
Job Description Summary:
Inspects and verifies the quality of the products produced and or purchased to the specified requirements. Assists all production and other cross-functional group personnel in evaluating issues they may have related to product quality. Other duties include, but not limited to, inspection of product to blueprint requirements, verifying documented work travelers are complete and accurate, inspection of incoming purchased items, issuing rejection tags and associated documentation, and reviewing and verifying material certifications as applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Visually inspect for burrs, sharp edges, finish, plating and tool marks - Visually inspect the ink stamp of tag that identifies the material for conformance to the part ordered and that the ink stamp is clear and easy to read; - Sample thread gage all parts for conformance to threading requirements; - Verify quantities to order requirements; - Verify identification tag as applicable; - Review Shipper for special instructions found at the bottom of the notes area; - Review Bill of Material to insure that all traceability for the material is documented correctly and accurately; - Review all packaging for the proper protection of parts; - Review the revision letter of the print and the revision of the shipper making sure that both are the same; - Inspect the parts or route to the correct location and/or certification; - Investigate any reason for change in print revision to check for effect on parts to be inspected; - Review all rejections will the Quality Assurance Manager; - Responsible for the application and control of all current specifications for parts being inspected; - Verify that only current revisions are being used; if revision level is questionable, the Engineering Department is to be contacted and consulted for clarification; - Work with the production floor whenever possible to provide assistance to the operators, assemblers and other Glenair production personnel with any issues they may have with product quality; - Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires five (5) years minimum experience in working in a manufacturing environment in either the production or inspection areas; - Must posses a working knowledge of blueprint reading skills related to tolerances, plating allowances, document revision control, and thread practices; - Experienced in inspection tools such as thread gages, block and gage pins, comparator, drop gages, micrometers and vernier calipers; - Posse’s documentation skills related to SPC data collection, purchasing documentation, rejection / RMA return practices and records, lot traceability review, and the ability to understand and execute job card requirements; - Good oral and written communication skills; - Able to handle multiple tasks and demands under stress; - Ability to meet deadlines; - Ability to interface with multiple departments; - Excellent organizational skills; - Ability to work independently with minimum supervision; - Excellent interpersonal skills.
